Jharkhand assembly elections will be held in the third week of October

Ranchi: Jharkhand assembly elections will be held in the third week of October. The dates of the elections can be announced anytime after 10 September. With this, the model election code of conduct will come into force in the state. The Election Commission of India has indicated to the State Election Office that Jharkhand assembly elections will be held along with Haryana, Maharashtra and Jammu and Kashmir.

The term of Haryana Assembly ends on November 3, while the term of Maharashtra Assembly ends on November 27. The State Election Office has started preparing for elections in Jharkhand parallel to these three states.

The declaration is made 45 days before the polling

There is a rule to announce elections at least 45 days before the polling. Since the election process has to be completed in Haryana by 31 October, the time from 10 September to 15 September would be appropriate to give 45 days time. In this context, the state government cannot create any obstacle.
