    Who is Sairaj Bahutule: Team India’s Sri Lanka tour is starting from 27th July. Team India has got a new bowling coach for this tour.

    Who is Sairaj Bahutule: After the T20 World Cup 2024, the Indian senior cricket team is set to tour Sri Lanka. Team India will leave for Sri Lanka to play T20 and ODI series from July 27. The Men in Blue will fly from Mumbai on July 22. Many players have returned to this series. This is the first tour of new head coach Gautam Gambhir. There have been major changes from players to coaching staff. Apart from Abhishek Nair, Ryan Ten Doeschate, another veteran is going to join Gambhir’s coaching staff. BCCI has announced the name of Sairaj Bahutule for bowling coach.

    In fact, South African legend Morne Morkel, who is being considered as the potential bowling coach, will not go to Sri Lanka with the Indian team. Therefore, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made a temporary arrangement, under this arrangement, Sairaj Bahutule, associated with the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore, has been made the interim bowling coach for this tour. Bahutule will soon join Team India. At the same time, T Dilip will remain the fielding coach.

    Who is Sairaj Bahutule after all?

    Sairaj Bahutule is a former Indian cricketer. Although he did not play much at the international level, he has been a big name in domestic cricket. He was a legendary leg spinner of his time. He took 3 wickets and scored 39 runs in 2 Tests for India. He took 2 wickets in 8 ODIs. This former cricketer made his Test debut in the historic Test series of 2001 against Australia.

    Sairaj Bahutule has been a legend of domestic cricket

    Sairaj Bahutule has played for many teams in domestic cricket. He played the most for Mumbai. Sairaj took a total of 630 wickets in 188 first class matches, he has 197 wickets in 143 List A matches. Apart from Mumbai, he also played for Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Maharashtra, Vidarbha teams. Not only this, he represented the Surrey team in England’s county cricket.

    Sairaj Bahutule also has coaching experience

    After retiring from first-class cricket on 1 January 2013, he took up coaching. He was appointed the coach of the Kerala cricket team in June 2024. Then in July 2015, he became the coach of the Bengal cricket team. In February 2018, he took over the responsibility of spin bowling coach for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL. Now he will serve as the bowling coach for Team India.
