Vinay Yadav, Naiduniya, Indore. Doctors of the surgery department of MY Hospital under MGM Medical College have done a research that can prove to be revolutionary for patients suffering from the problem of delayed wound healing due to diabetes. The fat of the stomach of the patient whose wound on the feet is not healing quickly due to diabetes is removed and stem cells are separated from it.

Later those stem cells are applied to the wound in the body. New blood vessels start forming rapidly and the wound starts healing quickly. Due to diabetes, wounds often occur on the feet, which are very difficult to heal. Medicines are used for this. But research is being done by the Department of Surgery and Plastic Surgery of MY Hospital, in which this result has come out.

Let us tell you that this research is being done by resident Dr. Daniel Raj under the guidance of Dr. Sachin Verma. Doctors said that as part of the research, stem cells were extracted from stomach fat and applied on the wound on the patient’s leg. The result was pleasant. We saw that while medicines take ten days to heal the wound, stem cells provide relief in just five days.

This is because medicines work to control sugar, which helps in healing wounds after control, but extracting stem cells and applying them directly helps in healing wounds. When we extract fat from a patient, it comes out in large particles, which are first made smaller and then applied on the wound.

Doctors also claimed that till now stem cells of stomach fat are used for the treatment of many diseases, but this experiment is being done for the first time in the state for the treatment of diabetic foot. It has been tested on 30 patients so far and has been successful.

Stem cell technology is effective because

Stem cells are capable of producing cells similar to themselves, so when they are separated from the body fat and implanted in the injured area, they start producing new cells and this gives quick relief to the patient.
