Burhanpur got Rs 73.44 crore sanctioned for jail building. This gift was received 20 years after separation from Khandwa. Jail construction was possible due to efforts of MLA Archana Chitnis.
Naiduniya representative, Burhanpur. 20 years after its division from Khandwa district, Burhanpur district has received the gift of a jail building. Mohan Sarkar’s cabinet has not only sanctioned Rs 73.44 crore for the construction of the district jail. Along with this, 60 posts including jail superintendent and guards have also been sanctioned.
This achievement has been achieved due to the efforts of local MLA and BJP’s state spokesperson Archana Chitnis. She had made continuous efforts for this. Let us tell you that at present the accused and criminals arrested in the district have to be taken to Khandwa district jail.
Police had to make additional security arrangements
To take the prisoners to Khandwa jail, the police has to make extra security arrangements as well as spend on vehicles, diesel etc. By building a jail in the district itself, the police will be relieved of such long journeys and security. MLA Archana Chitnis has expressed her gratitude to the Chief Minister for this gift.
Chitnis said that in the year 2003, district Burhanpur was formed by dividing district Khandwa. The jail department of district Burhanpur is currently being operated from district Khandwa itself. Criminals have to be brought and taken to Burhanpur daily for appearance in the district court and other courts.
Due to this, a lot of police force as well as vehicles are used for transportation. On the one hand, there is loss of time and money. Also, there is a lot of difficulty in keeping serious criminals safe. He told that an estimate proposal of Rs 73.44 crore has been prepared and sent to the Chief Engineer (Building) Public Works Department Indore/Bhopal. In the Madhya Pradesh Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday, approval has been given to the district jail.
Construction will be done near Bahadurapur
The MLA said that for the last 10 years, continuous efforts were being made to construct a district jail. Earlier, the construction of this jail was proposed in the place of the district hospital in the residential area in the middle of the city and the construction of the district hospital was proposed seven kilometers away.
After his intervention and efforts, a district hospital could be constructed in place of the district jail in the middle of the city. Now 12 acres of land has been selected near village Bahadurpur for the construction of the district jail.
