Madhya Pradesh will get new roads

    Highlights

For the first time in Madhya Pradesh, roads will be built at a cost of Rs 8,000 crore. The proposal will be brought in the cabinet meeting for approval. The proposal is being brought in the cabinet due to the approval of an amount higher than the norms.

State Bureau, Naiduniya, Bhopal. The complaints of ministers and MLAs regarding bad roads or absence of roads in their constituencies will be resolved soon. For this, roads will be constructed in the state at a cost of eight thousand crore rupees. These will include roads from cities to rural areas.

The Public Works Department has prepared its list on the basis of the Chief Minister’s announcement and the proposals received from ministers and MLAs. This is the first time that roads will be constructed with such a large amount at one go. Due to the approval of an amount more than the prescribed criteria, a proposal is being brought in the cabinet.

Before the assembly elections, the government had sought proposals of Rs 15 crore each from all the MLAs. Most of the members gave proposals for bridges and roads. These were included in the budget but only a symbolic provision was made for the amount. In the budget for the year 2024-25, roads of 3,668 km length costing Rs 5,000 crore were included.

Apart from this, there are many more projects which have been demanded by MPs and other public representatives from the Chief Minister. Including these proposals received by the Chief Minister’s Office, the department has prepared a proposal of Rs 8,000 crore, which will be presented for the approval of the Cabinet.

Actually, according to the criteria for giving funds to any construction department, the department has received a budget of Rs 10 thousand crores but the proposed works cannot be completed with this. The finance department can give relaxation to approve more amount but cabinet approval is necessary. Departmental officials say that the limit of Rs 3 thousand crores of the Central Road Fund has also been included in the bank of sanctions.

The central government gives the money for this, so it is proposed to remove this amount from the limit set for the department. This will increase the bank of sanctions limit of the department and the way will be cleared for building roads, bridges and culverts at a cost of eight thousand crore rupees. It is proposed to arrange the money from Scheduled Caste-Tribe Sub Plan, Mineral Area Development Fund, Central Regional Scheme, Special Central Assistance.
