New Delhi. The strength of the Indian Navy has increased. Nuclear submarine ‘INS Arighat’ has now been included in the Indian Navy fleet. Nuclear submarine ‘INS Arighat’ was inducted into the Indian Navy on Thursday. Now ‘INS Arighat’ has become a part of the Strategic Force Command (SFC). The country’s second nuclear submarine has been built at the shipyard in Visakhapatnam.

In Sanskrit, Arighat means ‘destroyer of enemies’. INS Arighat is equipped with K-15 ballistic missile (nuclear) which can strike up to 750 kilometers from the sea. Not only this, the Indian Navy will also equip this submarine with K-4 missile which can strike up to 4000 kilometers. After its inclusion, India now has 2 SSBN nuclear submarines.

Features of INS Arighat Submarine

The weight of this nuclear submarine is about 6000 tons. The length of INS Arighat is 111.6 meters and width is 11 meters. Its depth is 9.5 meters. Its speed on the sea surface is 12 to 15 nautical miles (ie 22 to 28 kilometers) per hour. 24 K-15 and BO-5 short range missiles are deployed on it. This submarine can hit targets up to 700 kilometers.

‘Arighat’ will become a part of the Strategic Force Command. Due to being associated with the Strategic Force, official information about the commissioning of this nuclear submarine has not been shared. With this, India has become the sixth nuclear triad country in the world apart from America, Russia, Britain, France and China.
