Naiduniya representative, Indore. Too much rain is said to have damaged the pigeon pea crop in Karnataka, Maharashtra and Gujarat. On Friday, the arrival of new moong from Nimar started in the cantonment grain market. 51 sacks of new moong came from Khargone which was bought by Saurabh Santosh Goyal of Balaji Pulses at the rate of Rs 7911 per quintal through broker Nilesh Agarwal. Right now the moisture in moong is high. Good arrival will be seen only after 7-8 days.

Looking at the arrivals, there is little scope for a long-term rise in the current prices of moong. Even light goods from UP will not allow the market to rise. Moong dal and Mogar saw a rise of Rs 100 due to buying. On the other hand, on Friday, the prices of gram remained high due to sporadic buying by millers and a decrease in arrivals.

On Friday, the price of Bengal gram rose by Rs 50 to reach Rs 7850 per quintal. Strong buying is also being seen in Bengal dal. The arrival of Kabuli Bengal gram in the Cantonment market was 2500 bags. In the market, medium Bengal gram was sold at Rs 9300-12300, best at Rs 12300-13000 and super at Rs 13300-15200 per quintal.

Due to good buying at lower prices and a huge decrease in the arrival of lentils, the prices of lentils increased. Lentil increased to Rs 6060-6075 per quintal. The stock of Desi lentils has been reduced to a great extent and the prices in Canada are being quoted at higher rates. Due to strong consumer inquiries in lentil dal, there was a rise of Rs 50 in lentil dal.

Dollar gram in container increased to Rs 42/44 16200, 44/46 15900, 58/60 13000, 60/62 12900, 62/64 12800 per quintal.
