The pension which is considered a support for old age by the central government has now been introduced as ‘Unified Pension Scheme’ (UPS) instead of ‘New Pension Scheme’ (NPS). In protest against this, the employees have been wearing black bands since September 2. In the same sequence, on the last day on Friday also, the employees tied black bands and protested against it. District coordinator of Ateva Pension Manch, Irfan Ahmed said that according to the provincial instructions, all the teachers and employees are working by tying black bands on their hands from September 2 to September 6.

Convenor Harikesh said that this UPS is just a hoax, even though the government is increasing its contribution from 14% to 18%, we will not get our contribution after retirement. Chief speaker Prakash Yadav said that you will not get even the contribution made by you. All those people who are telling the benefits of this pension system are themselves covered under the old pension. If this pension system is better, then why are all those employee leaders not adopting this pension. Secretary Vinod Yadav said that in this there is no hope of salary increase after 10 years nor increase in pension at the age of 80 years.

In a meeting held in the block auditorium of Bachhrawan under the leadership of provincial officer Rajat Kumar Rajak, he said that we neither want NPS nor UPS from the government, we only want OPS i.e. old pension from the government as a support for our old age. If this pension is better then the leaders sitting in Delhi should take this pension. NPS and UPS were strongly opposed in a joint meeting between Panchayati Raj employees and teachers in the area Panchayat Bachhrawan.
