Let us tell you that before this, Sri Lanka won the last test match against England in the year 2014. After this, Sri Lanka played 10 test matches against England, in which England won 9 and one test was drawn. But now finally the Sri Lankan team has got victory in the test against England. This is Sri Lanka’s fourth victory against England on English soil. The last victory before this came in the year 2014.

    What happened in the match?

In the last test of the series, England’s batsmen performed brilliantly and scored 325 runs in the first innings. After this, the Lankan team could score only 263 runs in the first innings. Due to this, England got a lead of 62 runs on the basis of the first innings. In such a situation, everyone felt that the England team would win the match easily. But in the second innings, England’s batting collapsed badly and could score only 156 runs. In this way, Lanka got a target of 219 runs to win. Pathum Nissanka has proved to be the biggest hero for Lanka. Nissanka won the match by playing an innings of 127 runs.

    The British dream was shattered

England had last clean swept a team in summer on its soil 20 years ago in 2004. The team has not been able to do so since then. The team could have done so against Sri Lanka. Because it had won the first Test by 5 wickets and the second Test by 190 runs. But the defeat in the third Test against Sri Lanka has shattered its dream of clean sweeping a team in summer on its soil.
