Naiduniya representative, Khandwa. A young woman who had come to the doctor for treatment and her two companions entered the clinic of a senior doctor of the city and created a ruckus. The girl accused the doctor of molesting her and all three of them started beating him. During this, other patients and assistants present there intervened. Hearing the noise, other people also reached there and then the young man and woman ran away. On getting information about the incident, other doctors along with others reached Moghat police station and lodged a complaint against the people who assaulted the doctor.
On Tuesday afternoon, a 22-year-old Muslim girl from Harsud-Chhanera came to the Misa Clinic of 80-year-old retired doctor Dr. SL Gupta, son of Vaidya Balmukund Gupta, located in Padwa of the city, for treatment. When the girl accused the doctor of unnecessarily molesting her when he asked her to put the stethoscope during examination in the chamber, Dr. Gupta tried to convince her by calling her his daughter. He also told her to complain to the police in case of any objection. During this, Dr. Gupta’s wife and other female employees present there also tried to convince her.
After this the girl left from there. On Wednesday evening she returned with two young men and entered the doctor’s chamber and started beating him. Other doctors of the city also reached the clinic after hearing about the beating of the senior doctor. All of them reached Moghat police station and demanded to register a crime against the girl and the two young men who beat them. The doctor also brought the CCTV footage of the clinic with him.
In this case, Moghat police has registered a case against the girl resident of Harsud-Chhanera and her brother and another person under various sections of the Indian Penal Code including the Madhya Pradesh Medical Safety Act. Police is searching for the accused on the basis of CCTV footage.
Outrage among city doctors
There is anger among the doctors of the city regarding the incident. They say that the government is waiting for so long to ensure the safety of doctors. Even after this, anti-social elements are not refraining from carrying out their plans. Strict action should be taken against them. City Superintendent of Police Arvind Singh Tomar said that on the basis of the doctor’s complaint and footage, a case has been registered against those who assaulted him. The accused will be identified and arrested soon.

After this incident, people’s reactions are going viral on the local internet media. The act of assaulting senior Dr. SL Gupta is very shameful. He is doing social service along with his profession. He treats poor and helpless people by charging a very nominal fee. Many times, he also pays the medical expenses of many poor people without charging any fee. Such people are very rare in Khandwa. The administration should take strict action against those who assaulted him.
