Purushottam Patra, Gariaband. A case has come to light in Ghumrapadar of the district where villagers have held a truck loaded with 200 bags of ration hostage for the past 3 days. This truck had arrived here on 20th September to drop ration from Devbhog Warehouse, after dumping the ration the vehicle got stuck in the shop premises. The truck driver called a villager with a tractor to pull the vehicle out. During this, the truck hit the tractor, due to which the tractor driver was seriously injured. During this, the angry family members of the driver and the villagers held the truck hostage demanding compensation. Today Amlipar police went to release it but the matter did not work out.

Actually, on 20th September, the truck had left from Devbhog warehouse to drop ration. After dumping ration in Ghumrapadar, the vehicle got stuck in the shop premises. Madhuram’s tractor from the same village was called to pull it out. Madhu’s son Jitendra (26 years) was driving the tractor. After towing, the truck somehow started, so the tractor gave it a side to move ahead. The truck moved ahead but could not climb the courtyard, it reversed and hit the tractor’s head. The first time only the tractor was shattered. The driver carelessly hit the truck for the second time, and the tractor driver Jitendra’s ears were torn. The driver was badly injured. First he was admitted to Amlipadar and then to Devbhog hospital. The case was serious, so he was referred to Raipur. Jitendra is admitted in a private hospital in the capital since the night of 20th. Father Madhuram is adamant on demanding the full cost of treatment from the truck owner, the family members along with the villagers have held the truck hostage along with 200 bags of ration for the last three days. It is surprising that despite the matter being serious, Amlipar police has not yet registered a case.

Here, the police reached the village along with the revenue officers and were trying to convince the family. An attempt was made to collect Rs. 40,000 and give it to the family who was demanding the cost of treatment, but the family is demanding the full cost of treatment.

In this case, Amlipar police station in-charge Jai Singh Dhruve said that since the date of the incident, the victim’s family is being asked to become an applicant. They say that if a case is registered, they will not be able to get medical expenses from the truck owner. Today again it has been said that the family is not ready to agree. Tomorrow I will register the case at any cost.
