Bareilly , Amidst the increasing cases of corruption, a shocking news has come out from Bareilly. Inspector Deepchand, in-charge of Bhudia Colony outpost of Baheri police station, was arrested red-handed by the anti-corruption team on Monday night while taking a bribe of ₹ 50,000. This bribe was being taken in the name of saving a father and his three sons from arrest in an assault case.

The inspector claimed that he was innocent, but when his hands were washed with water after holding the chemically tainted notes, the truth came to light. Pink hands exposed her. After the arrest, the inspector tried to prove himself innocent, but the anti-corruption team did not listen to him.

    Arrest made at the scene

The anti-corruption team carried out this operation very cleverly. On receiving the information, the team made a plan and caught Inspector Deepchand by laying a trap at Bhudiya Colony outpost. As soon as the amount of ₹50,000 reached the inspector’s hands, the team immediately conducted a raid.

During the arrest the inspector tried several times to prove himself innocent. He later apologized to the team and said that he would not make such a mistake again. However, when he was taken to Devraniya police station, his tone changed. He claimed that the anti-corruption team had falsely implicated him.

    Inspector’s controversial background

Inspector Deepchand’s name has already come up in many controversies. During his posting in various police stations of Bareilly city, many complaints of corruption were registered against him. Local people allege that he did not do any work without taking bribe.

About 20 days ago, Baheri Inspector Sanjay Tomar had reprimanded Deepchand during a meeting. This case was regarding laxity in an investigation. Not only this, during the police station resolution day, SDM Ratnika Srivastava had also warned Deepchand in matters related to illegal mining.

    Family and property investigation

After the arrest, the anti-corruption team also investigated the residence and family of Inspector Deepchand. However, the team did not find any suspicious items during the search. Despite this, the inspector’s family properties and his bank accounts are being investigated.

    Police department’s response

The police department has also taken this matter seriously. Bareilly SSP said that corruption will not be tolerated under any circumstances. “This incident not only tarnishes the image of the police but also hurts the public trust,” he said.

Demand for strict action against corruption

This incident has created anger among the general public. People are raising questions whether it is possible to eliminate corruption in police administration.

Police and corruption statistics in India

This incident is being seen in the context of increasing cases of police and corruption in the country. According to National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data, every year thousands of policemen are accused of taking bribes and indulging in corruption.

    Need for anti-corruption campaigns

Despite strict laws against corruption, their effectiveness at the ground level is often in question. Experts believe that there is a need to implement internal monitoring and strict punishment system in the police department.

The arrest of Inspector Deepchand is a warning to the Bareilly Police Department. This incident shows that in the fight against corruption, mere making of laws is not enough, but their strict enforcement and monitoring is also required.
