Kashi The door of ‘Siddheshwar Mahadev Temple’, which was locked under a mysterious lock in the famous Madanpura area of Varanasi, was finally opened due to the efforts of the administration. On Wednesday, the administration team, amidst heavy police force and PAC, broke the locks and entered the temple and started the cleaning operation. As soon as the Shivalinga of Mahadev came into view, shouts of “Har Har Mahadev” echoed in the entire area.
This issue of the temple had recently become a topic of discussion among regional and religious organizations. Local residents as well as Hindu organizations had also demanded the revival of this temple.
Historical importance and controversy of the temple
This temple of Siddheshwar Mahadev is located in the Muslim-dominated area of Madanpura. According to historical documents, this temple is situated at a public place. The house opposite this temple, which was earlier named after Raja Mahendra Ranjan Roy, was sold to Taj Mohammed in 1932. But there was no mention of the temple anywhere in the registry.
Sanatan Rakshak Dal state president Ajay Sharma said, “The temple is public property and no one can have personal claim on it. It has become clear in the government investigation that this temple is not private property. On the basis of this, the administration broke the lock of the temple.”
Opening of the temple and religious enthusiasm
As soon as the door of the temple opened, there was a wave of happiness in the local Hindu community. Vishwa Hindu Sena Chief Arun Pathak said, “We have decided to appoint a priest to start the puja here. Soon this temple will be opened for regular worship.”
The Municipal Corporation team has started the work of clearing debris from the temple premises. After cleaning the temple, proper puja is being planned.
administrative vigilance in the area
In view of this sensitive matter, the administration has made strict security arrangements. Police force and PAC have been deployed near the temple. The administration has maintained vigilance in the area to avoid any untoward incident.
Example of religious and communal harmony
This incident has initiated a new dialogue between religious communities. Although the temple is in a Muslim dominated area, local residents did not raise any opposition to the process. This indicates that the form of Ganga-Jamuni culture of Varanasi is still alive.
plan ahead
The process of coordination between the administration and religious organizations is going on to start worship in the temple. This will not only boost religious activities, but this place can also become a center of religious tourism.
