Raipur, January 11, 2025/ Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai participated in the India International Rice Summit 2025 held at a private hotel in Raipur. Union Minister of Food and Commerce, Shri Piyush Goyal, joined the event via video conferencing. Addressing the event, Union Minister Shri Goyal stated that the central government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has worked to enhance the status and respect of the nation’s farmers. Decisions are being taken in the best interests of farmers to double their income. He said that Chhattisgarh is known as the rice bowl. Chhattisgarh produces abundant rice. There is a need to add value to and brand the rice here and reach global markets. This will benefit farmers and traders. He appealed to farmers to adopt advanced agricultural practices and cultivate crops with low water consumption.
Union Minister Shri Goyal further stated that the central and state governments are working together for the betterment of farmers and the progress of Chhattisgarh. He congratulated and wished well to the Rice Millers Promoters for organizing the India International Rice Summit in Chhattisgarh. He said that the central government is paying special attention to the production of nutritious rice so that farmers get a good price for their produce. This event by Rice Millers Promoters in Chhattisgarh will prove to be a milestone for the prosperity of the state and its farmers.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, addressing the India International Rice Summit, said that on this very day, Lord Ramlala was enthroned in the Ayodhya Dham temple. Chhattisgarh is the maternal home of Mata Kaushalya and the paternal home of Lord Ram. On the first anniversary of Ramlala’s enthronement, the Chief Minister congratulated the people of the state and the country.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the organization of the India International Rice Summit in Chhattisgarh, the rice bowl, is a matter of pride for the state. He said that Chhattisgarh is known throughout the country for its paddy. Now, we have to take this identity to the international level. We have more varieties of paddy here than anywhere else.
The Chief Minister said that he is a farmer’s son. He has himself ploughed the fields with his own hands. He has good experience of farming. Therefore, he can say that there are so many varieties of paddy in the villages of our state that not everyone knows their names. When the country became independent, his grandfather was a nominated MLA, but he always had a connection with farming. The paddy he used to plant was so fragrant that the entire field would be fragrant. Those passing by a house where rice was cooking could tell by the fragrance that rice was being cooked. There is a need to bring such varieties of Chhattisgarh to the forefront.
The Chief Minister further said that they are giving the highest price for paddy to their farmers. Due to this, the area under cultivation in the state has increased, and so has the number of farmers. Where earlier 24 lakh farmers were registered, now more than 27 lakh farmers have been registered. The Chief Minister said that farmers get good profits with less effort in paddy cultivation. Chhattisgarh’s rice should be exported abroad. I appeal to the exporters to get information about the varieties of paddy here and encourage the export of paddy so that the farmers of the state benefit.
Chhattisgarh’s Agriculture Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, the Chhattisgarh government is working in the interests of farmers. The help given to farmers by the Chhattisgarh government and the decisions taken in their interest have led to prosperity in agriculture and the happiness of farmers. To promote the export of rice from the state and benefit farmers, the mandi tax has been completely abolished. To improve the condition of farmers, we are striving to make Chhattisgarh an open market. He appealed to Rice Mill Promoters to get better prices for farmers’ produce.
