Raipur / Ms. Dipti Gauar Mukherjee, Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India, reviewed the Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme (PMIS) at the Ministry yesterday. This meeting, held in the presence of Chief Secretary Mr. Amitabh Jain, comprehensively evaluated the implementation and impact of the PMIS scheme in Chhattisgarh. Also present at the meeting were Mr. Balamurugan D., Joint Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India; Dr. S. Bhartidasan, Secretary, Skill Development Technical Education & Employment Department, Chhattisgarh; Mr. Sitaram Sharan Gupta, Registrar of Companies-cum-Official Liquidator, Chhattisgarh; the Higher Education Secretary; the Panchayat & Rural Development Secretary; the Labour Department Secretary; and the Additional Secretary, School Education.

The meeting extensively discussed evaluating the effectiveness of the first phase of the scheme and developing a strategic approach for the smooth implementation of its second phase. Chief Secretary Mr. Amitabh Jain expressed the state government’s full commitment to PMIS and assured active efforts to ensure the scheme’s success, maximizing benefits for Chhattisgarh’s youth. A dialogue session was held with interns currently participating in PMIS, along with representatives from key industrial partners like NSE, GPIL, and Power Grid. These organizations have played a significant role in providing theoretical and practical training, effectively bridging the gap between academic knowledge and industry requirements.

During the meeting, interns shared their experiences and highlighted the positive impact the program has had on their professional skills and career prospects. Secretary Ms. Dipti Gauar Mukherjee interacted with the interns, seeking their feedback on challenges faced during the program and suggestions for its effective implementation. Interns from other prestigious companies, including Shriram Finance and ICICI Bank, also participated virtually and shared their positive experiences with the scheme.

Following this, a special session was held with industry representatives to discuss their roles, adherence to guidelines in the recruitment process, best practices adopted to ensure the scheme’s success, and arrangements for timely grant payments to interns. Concerns regarding any potential delays in grant payments were also raised, and a consensus was reached on taking necessary steps to address them.

The meeting concluded on a highly positive note, with all stakeholders reiterating their collective commitment to further strengthen the PMIS framework in Chhattisgarh. The suggestions and discussions from this session will contribute to making the second phase of the scheme more effective, structured, and results-oriented.
