IIT ISM Dhanbad: IIT ISM Dhanbad has developed a Twin-Vire 3D printing setup. This will add a new chapter in the field of metal construction. This project is funded by the Science and Engineering Research Board, Government of India. The institute has applied for the patent of this technology.
IIT IISM Dhanbad: Dhanbad-IIT ISM Dhanbad has developed a state-of-the-art twin-viring additive manufacturing (AM) setup, achieving great success in the field of alloy (metal) structure. The mechanical engineering department of the institute also includes the ability of in-an-element alloying in this system, this will make metal construction more efficient and durable. This is a technique based on 3D printing. This technique is considered to be a very revolutionary initiative to make designed alloy structure. This technology is being described as beneficial for industries.
What is adative manufacturing and its importance?
Adative Manufacturing (AM) technology has brought revolutionary changes in traditional construction processes. This technique is capable of preparing complex metal structures in a faster and efficient way. Wire arc can create a metal structure with adorable manufacturing (WAAM), extremely stuttering and at a fairly low cost. For this reason, it is becoming increasingly popular in industries. The technology developed in IIT ISM is an advanced form of this.
Latest achievement in the name of IIT ISM
IIT ISM Dhanbad has successfully established a twin-wire AM setup with Yaskava six-lexic industrial robots. This system enables in-situ alloying. With this, the quality of material can be improved during the construction process itself. The manipulator in the major components of this advanced system controls the exact speed and 8 -age process. The controller coordinated the activities and welding process of the robotic. Programming teach provides accuracy to the metal. The gas tungsten arc welding in it works to establish the power source, better control and high quality metal. At the same time, the wire feed system installed in it helps to increase the properties of the material by adding alloying elements and the motman robot is a software system. This makes it possible to build metal with high purity.
Research and industrial impact
This project is funded by the Science and Engineering Research Board, Government of India. Its research findings have been published in internationally recognized journals and this new design is presented for patent acceptance. This setup of IIT ISM will prove to be extremely useful technology for the manufacture of multi-coordin components in areas such as aviation, automobile and heavy machinery repair. With this help, there will be revolutionary changes in the process of repairing and construction of expensive and important equipment in industries.
Common students can see this technique
IIT ISM’s advanced manufacturing lab has been kept open to school and college students, entrepreneurs and industry professionals. The institute is offering interested visitors an opportunity to take a direct experience of additive manufacturing (AM) setup. The objective of this initiative is to increase technical awareness among the youth and entrepreneurs of Jharkhand and encourage industrial development.
