Raipur, March 30, 2025 / Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai presented a special memento to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today at a public meeting and inauguration/foundation stone laying ceremony for development works held in Mohbhatta village, Bilaspur district. The memento was prepared in memory of Bilasa Devi Kevat, a brave woman of Chhattisgarh. This memento is not only a symbol of Chhattisgarh’s cultural heritage but also a vibrant expression of woman power, self-reliance, and leadership skills.

Bilasa Devi of Chhattisgarh was a courageous, hardworking, and visionary woman, after whom the major city of Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh is named. She belonged to the Kevat community—a community known in Indian history for water transport, service, and honesty. The role of the Kevat community in the life of Lord Shri Ram is still remembered as an ideal.

Source of Inspiration for Women’s Empowerment

Bilasa Devi’s life is proof that women can transcend boundaries and create history. Her leadership, hard work, and skills proved that whether it is administration or social leadership—women are not behind in any field. This memento is a mirror of those values and inspirations.

This gift resonates with the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, which is centered on the concept of women’s power and participation in nation-building. Schemes like ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao,’ ‘Ujjwala Yojana,’ ‘Women Self-Help Groups,’ ‘Nari Shakti Mission’ are historic steps taken in this direction. This memento is not just a piece of craftsmanship but an ideological symbol—showing that the future of India will be bright only when its women are empowered. This gift is a coordination of Chhattisgarh’s glorious past, present efforts, and future possibilities.

By presenting this symbol of Bilasa Devi Kevat to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai has also established the strength of women and the glorious values of Indian culture at the national level.
