Raipur, April 4, 2025/ Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and the guidance of Shri P. Dayanand, Secretary, Department of Mineral Resources, Chhattisgarh has set a new benchmark in mineral revenue collection in the financial year 2024-25.

A record mineral revenue of ₹14,195 crore has been received from mining operations in the state, which is an increase of approximately 11% (₹1400 crore more) compared to ₹12,795 crore in the previous year 2023-24.

Dantewada Tops in Mineral Revenue Collection in the State

In the financial year 2024-25, District Dantewada has secured the top position in the state’s mineral revenue collection by contributing the highest amount of ₹6580 crore. Besides this, significant revenue contributions have been recorded from Korba (₹2148 crore), Raigarh (₹2027 crore), Balod (₹1313 crore), Surguja (₹585 crore), Balodabazar (₹354 crore), Kanker (₹328 crore), and Surajpur (₹155 crore).

    National Participation in Mineral Resources

Chhattisgarh holds an important position in the country in terms of mineral resources. Despite having only 4% share of the country’s total geographical area, Chhattisgarh contributes more than 16% to the country’s total mineral production value. The state mainly has vast reserves of iron ore, coal, limestone, and bauxite, which are the main sources of mineral revenue. In addition, a total of 28 types of mineral reserves, including strategic minerals, have been confirmed in the state.

    Additional Revenue from E-Auction System

Since 2015, the Mineral Department has been allocating minerals through e-auction, which is generating additional revenue in the form of premium in addition to royalty. The contribution of mines approved through e-auction is now clearly reflected in the increasing mineral revenue.

Infrastructure Boost from Mineral Development Fund

The State Government transfers 5% of the total mineral revenue receipts to the “Mineral Development Fund.” This fund is being used for the development of mineral resources and infrastructure construction in remote areas of the state. For the upcoming year 2025-26, approximately ₹200 crore has been provisioned only for rail corridor construction in remote areas of the state.

    Contribution to Overall Socio-Economic Development

The mining operations in the state are not limited to providing raw materials to industrial establishments, but have become a strong pillar of the social and economic development of Chhattisgarh.

“The land of Chhattisgarh is not only rich in mineral wealth, but also in immense development possibilities and the commitment to public welfare. By achieving a record mineral revenue of ₹14,195 crore in the financial year 2024-25, the state has touched a new height. This achievement is the result of our visionary policies, transparent administration, and honest work culture.

Through e-auction system, technological innovation, and good governance, we are transforming the mineral sector not only as a means of revenue collection, but also as an engine of development for remote areas.”

    Shri Vishnu Deo Sai
    Chief Minister, Chhattisgarh
