Government fully committed to making Bastar completely free from Naxalism: Chief Minister Shri Sai

Naxal victims requested to strongly advance the Naxal eradication campaign

Raipur, May 1, 2025 // A delegation of victims of Naxal violence from the Bastar region paid a courtesy call to Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai at the Chief Minister’s residence today. The delegation included Naxal violence victims from various areas of the Bastar division, including Sukma, Bijapur, and Kanker, who have lost loved ones, endured physical torture, or suffered the displacement due to Naxal violence in the past years. Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma was also present on this occasion.

The delegation submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Shri Sai, appealing to take the ongoing anti-Naxal operation in the hills of Kurregutta to a decisive turn. They said that thousands of families in Bastar have been facing the horrors of Maoist terror for four decades, which has deeply damaged the social, educational, and economic foundations of the region. In recent years, effective action by security forces and the government’s inclusive development policy have rekindled the hope of peace and development in Bastar. Villagers described events like Bastar Olympics and Bastar Pandum as symbols of this new awareness and confidence.

Chief Minister Shri Sai listened carefully to the delegation’s points and assured them that the Chhattisgarh government is fully committed to the complete eradication of Naxalism. He said that the security operation being conducted in Kurregutta is in a decisive phase. The government will complete the Naxal eradication campaign at any cost so that the development of Bastar can gain momentum. The Chief Minister clarified that Naxalism is not just a violent movement, but also a threat to our culture based on co-existence. Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the government stands with every Naxal victim family and any attempt to break the morale of the security forces or obstruct the campaign will not be tolerated.

He said that the government’s goal is lasting peace and inclusive development in Bastar, and this is only possible when the region is completely freed from the shadow of violence and fear.

Chief Minister Shri Sai expressed hope that we will undoubtedly achieve success with the power of public participation and public trust in the anti-Naxal struggle and move Bastar towards lasting peace and development.
