An IED blast in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, orchestrated by Naxalites, resulted in the death of Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Akash Rao Giripunje and injuries to several police personnel. The incident occurred near Dondra village during a security patrol in response to a bandh called by the Naxalites. The injured were immediately taken to a hospital in Konta. ASP Giripunje, who had sustained severe injuries, passed away during treatment. Deputy CM Vijay Shamra expressed grief, acknowledging the ASP’s bravery. This attack indicates the ongoing Naxal threat in Chhattisgarh, with security forces facing constant challenges. Search operations have been immediately initiated.
