Renna O’Rourke, a 19-year-old from Arizona, has succumbed to the ‘dusting’ challenge after inhaling keyboard cleaner. Her father explained that the aerosol cleaner was acquired without their permission. Following the inhalation, Renna suffered cardiac arrest and was subsequently declared brain dead after being in the ICU for four days. The ‘dusting’ trend, also known as ‘huffing’ or ‘chroming’, poses serious health threats, including the potential for heart failure, as stated by the Cleveland Clinic. Renna’s family is actively promoting awareness about the dangers of ‘dusting,’ encouraging parents to monitor their children and investigate their surroundings. The family has started a GoFundMe page to help manage the medical bills and therapy costs. This tragedy mirrors a prior incident in the UK during March 2024, where a boy also lost his life after inhaling toxic substances.
