The East Singhbhum district has commenced a special awareness campaign against banned narcotics, as part of a wider state government initiative. The campaign was launched with an awareness chariot at the Collectorate complex. Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi flagged off the chariot with the aim of circulating a de-addiction message across the district. This chariot will travel through different blocks within the district, educating people on the negative impacts of substance abuse. At the event, the Deputy Commissioner also led an oath against addiction for all the officials and staff present at the Collectorate. He emphasized that addiction not only affects personal health but also impacts the future, family, and society, leading to mental and physical health problems. The Deputy Commissioner called on all sections of the community to get involved and help create an addiction-free society. He encouraged the general public to actively participate and inform those around them about the dangers of substance abuse. This special campaign will run from June 10 to June 26, 2025, and will include multiple awareness programs to educate the public on the harms of drug addiction.
