AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj has launched a strong critique of the BJP government in Delhi, accusing them of handing out ‘prasads’ of misery to all sections of society. He pointed to several issues, including a 10.5% hike in Power Purchase Adjustment Charges (PPAC), the failure to remove pension charges, and extensive power outages, as proof of their alleged mismanagement. Bharadwaj claimed that the BJP’s actions, within four months of taking power, have caused difficulties across various segments of Delhi’s population, from fee hikes for the middle class to demolitions and rising electricity bills. At a press conference, he showed a video from July 2024 where BJP leaders criticized the then government’s 8% PPAC increase, alleging corruption. Bharadwaj questioned the BJP’s stance now that the PPAC has increased to 10.5%. He also raised the issue of pension charges on electricity bills, reminding everyone that the BJP had previously called these charges unjustified and should be removed. Bharadwaj cited instances of long power cuts, including a 14-hour blackout in Chhatarpur, and noted that even affluent areas are struggling. He alleged that the BJP government has increased electricity costs, has allowed prolonged power cuts, and is still collecting unjust pension charges.
