SIAM has reported that the Indian automotive market demonstrated consistent performance in May 2025. Total sales across Passenger Vehicles, Three-Wheelers, Two-Wheelers, and Quadricycles were recorded at 20,12,969 units. The two-wheeler and passenger vehicle segments performed well, while three-wheelers and quadricycles showed a decrease. The two-wheeler segment saw a 2.2% increase compared to May of the previous year, with scooters up by 7.1%. Motorcycles held steady, while mopeds experienced a decline. Despite a 2.0% drop in domestic sales, the three-wheeler segment saw increased production and exports. Positive market forecasts are supported by recent RBI rate cuts and the anticipation of favorable monsoons. Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. and Hyundai Motor India Ltd. were major contributors to passenger vehicle sales. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. reported noteworthy sales figures in the Utility Vehicle segment for the period of April-May 2025-26.
