A disturbing incident has unfolded in the Garhwa district of Jharkhand, reminiscent of the Raja Raghuvanshi case, where a woman allegedly poisoned her husband, ending his life just 30 days after their wedding. The incident has created chaos within the village. The police, upon receiving the news, secured the man’s body and dispatched it for a post-mortem. The accused wife has been arrested and is now under interrogation. The event has left everyone astounded.

Budhnath Singh, a resident of Bahokundar village in the Ranka police station area of Garhwa, married Sunita Devi from a village in Chhattisgarh on May 11, 2025. Sunita harbored resentment and dislike for Budhnath, leading her to return to her parental home merely a week after their marriage. Despite repeated attempts by her husband and his family to bring her back, she declined, resulting in a village panchayat to address the situation.

On June 15th, Budhnath went to his in-laws’ house. After significant persuasion, he convinced his wife, Sunita, to return with him to their village, Bahokundar. Sadly, he was unaware that he was returning home to his death. Upon returning, Sunita began her deadly plan and sent her husband to buy pesticide (poison) used on plants.

Without any hesitation, the husband complied with his wife’s request and purchased the pesticide. Capitalizing on this opportunity, the wife laced her husband’s dinner with the poison, leading to his death. In the morning, when the mother went to wake her sons, she discovered her son dead, which sparked immense grief within the family and the village. The villagers apprehended the accused daughter-in-law and promptly informed the Ranka police station.

Upon arrival, the police took the body for a post-mortem and arrested Sunita Devi. The police have initiated a case based on the complaint from the victim’s family and have launched a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
