A bridge near Talegaon in Pune, spanning the Indrayani River, collapsed on Sunday afternoon, resulting in a tragic incident. Four people lost their lives, and 51 others sustained injuries. The collapse occurred around 3:15 pm, with authorities alerted around 3:30 pm. Rescue operations were initiated immediately. The state government, under Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, will provide Rs 5 lakh in financial assistance to the families of the deceased and will cover the medical treatment costs for those injured. The deceased have been identified as Chandrakant Salve, Rohit Mane, and Vihaan Mane, with one individual yet to be identified. It’s believed that around 15-20 people were on the bridge when it collapsed. District Collector Jitendra Dudi provided details about the rescue efforts, noting the rapid response of a team of approximately 250 personnel. The Quick Response Team is presently evaluating the conditions on the ground. Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed his sadness and spoke with CM Fadnavis, conveying his concern and offering prayers for the injured.
