Patna has welcomed a new elevated road designed to ease traffic and improve city travel. On June 16th, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated the Mithapur-Mahuli elevated road. The new infrastructure is expected to significantly reduce travel times for commuters and provide relief from traffic congestion, especially for those living in the southern part of Patna.

This initiative is part of the larger Mithapur-Mahuli-Punpun project, which involves building an elevated road from Bhupatipur to Punpun (NH-22), at a cost of Rs 1400 crore. The inauguration was attended by Road Construction Minister Nitin Naveen, along with Ravi Shankar Prasad, the Lok Sabha member from Patna Sahib, and Mrs. Misa Bharti, the MP representing the Pataliputra constituency.

With the opening of the Mithapur-Mahuli elevated road, residents of southern Patna will experience greater ease in their daily commutes. Travel to destinations like Jehanabad, Arwal, Bihar Sharif, and Gaya will now be more efficient. The first phase of the project, which focused on the stretch from Sipara to Mahuli, has been completed. The construction is being carried out in two phases. The current phase includes the construction of a 2.10 km elevated road from Mithapur to Sipara and a 2.20 km four-lane road from Mahuli to Punpun. The Road Construction Department anticipates the Mithapur to Sipara elevated road to be completed by November this year.
