India has prolonged the ban on Pakistani airlines and aircraft in its airspace, with a new Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) in effect until July 24. This marks the second extension of the airspace closure that began on April 30. The initial NOTAM, which ran from May 1, 2025, to May 23, 2025, was originally scheduled to end on June 23, 2025. The extended restrictions impact planes registered in Pakistan, and those operated, owned, or leased by Pakistani airlines and operators, including military flights. This measure was implemented following the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, where 26 lives were lost. Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu stated that the government has decided to maintain the status quo, extending the NOTAM. The extended closure also includes other actions by the Indian government such as the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, closure of the Attari border crossing, and a downgrading of diplomatic relations.
