A tragic incident in Faridabad’s Sector 88 resulted in the death of a 74-year-old retired bank manager. The man fell to his death when a portion of a skywalk he was on collapsed. The skywalk, a bridge connecting two towers, was being used as a garden by residents. The deceased, Khulwant Singh, was watering plants when the structure failed. The police confirmed the skywalk was originally constructed as a fire escape. Singh’s family has alleged gross negligence on the part of the Residents Welfare Committee (RWA), leading to a police investigation into structural maintenance and possible failures. Residents had previously reported building quality issues without receiving any action. An RWA representative expressed sorrow, reiterating that residents had been told not to use the skywalk for gardening purposes.
