IGP Kashmir Zone, VK Birdi, has announced that extensive security measures are in place to ensure the safe and smooth conduct of the upcoming Amarnath Yatra. The pilgrimage is scheduled to commence next week. During a press briefing at the Nunwan base camp in Pahalgam, IGP Birdi emphasized the significance of local community involvement. The Jammu and Kashmir Police, in partnership with other security agencies, have developed a comprehensive, multi-layered security plan, more extensive than previous years’ efforts. This plan includes detailed security protocols across all sectors of the Yatra route, with security forces currently engaged in SOP drills across all relevant areas. IGP Birdi expressed gratitude for the local residents’ eager support, acknowledging their crucial contribution to a successful pilgrimage.
