The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the organization behind the Oscars, has invited Indian actors Kamal Haasan and Ayushmann Khurrana to join its ranks. These actors are among 534 new global artists selected to become members, granting them the privilege of voting in the Oscars. The Academy announced the new additions on June 26, which included prominent figures like Ariana Grande and Jason Momoa, as well as Indian talents like Karan Mally and Payal Kapadia. Invitations were also extended to entertainment personalities such as Jimmy Kimmel and Conan O’Brien. Academy CEO Bill Kramer and President Janet Yang celebrated the new members, acknowledging their influence on global cinema. If all accept, the Academy will have over 11,000 members from more than 60 countries, further solidifying its international presence. The 98th Academy Awards are slated for March 15, 2026, with potential rule adjustments and new categories.
