A clash between security forces and Maoists in a forest within Odisha’s Kandhamal district has resulted in the deaths of two Maoists. The incident signifies a key success in the ongoing battle against left-wing extremism. The individuals killed have been identified as Manku, an ACM cadre, and Chandan, both affiliated with the outlawed CPI (Maoist) organization. The District Voluntary Force (DVF) initiated the operation around noon after receiving crucial intelligence inputs. The ensuing gunfight resulted in the deaths of both Manku and Chandan. A search of the encounter site yielded one rifle, a revolver, ammunition, a walkie-talkie, batteries, and various other Maoist-related items. While the bodies have been recovered, it is suspected that some insurgents managed to flee. A combing operation has been initiated to locate any remaining Maoists in the area.
