During a visit to Kolkata, Omar Abdullah, the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, said that the largest partner of the INDIA alliance has the primary duty to strengthen the coalition. He expressed his disappointment over the lack of recent meetings among the alliance members after the elections. Abdullah stated, “The responsibility to strengthen the INDIA alliance is neither mine nor Mamata Banerjee’s. This responsibility belongs to the biggest partner of the INDIA Alliance.” He mentioned that the last meeting was held at Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence right after the elections. On the matter of statehood for J&K, Abdullah reiterated the desire to regain the state’s status and the need to restore its security responsibilities. He also commented on the Supreme Court’s decision regarding the Election Commission of India and Bihar’s electoral rolls, stating that the court has made its decision and the democratic process must continue.
