Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced the launch of ‘Operation Kaalnemi’ to crack down on individuals impersonating saints and committing fraud. The initiative is aimed at those exploiting Sanatan Dharma for deceit and manipulating public faith. The decision comes in response to multiple instances where people, particularly women, were deceived by imposters posing as saints. The Chief Minister has ordered the authorities to launch ‘Operation Kaalnemi’ against these individuals. He asserted that such actions not only hurt the religious sentiments of the people but also undermine social harmony and damage the image of Sanatan Dharma. Strict measures will be taken against anyone involved in such acts, irrespective of their religious affiliation. Dhami drew a parallel with the demon Kaalnemi, who attempted deception under a religious disguise, and affirmed the government’s commitment to protect public sentiment, preserve the dignity of Sanatan culture, and maintain social harmony. No one spreading deceit in the name of faith will be spared. CM Dhami highlighted that Uttarakhand, the ‘Land of Gods’, is inhabited by an innocent and simple populace. He noted that some antisocial elements are exploiting this by impersonating saints to deceive people. The police and administration have been instructed to identify and arrest these elements through Operation Kaalnemi.
