Following a fatal incident involving a young woman from Raipur at Gajpalla Waterfall, authorities have closed access to both Chingrapgar and Gajpalla waterfalls. The 19-year-old, identified as Mehvish Khan, was visiting the waterfall with friends when she drowned. The tragic event on Monday prompted a rapid response. An extensive search and rescue mission was launched, involving the SDRF and local teams. The woman’s body was recovered from a depth of about 20 feet, lodged in a tight spot between rocks. The Forest Department has imposed a ban on entry to these popular attractions until further notice and has stationed personnel at all entry points to enforce the closure. Warning signs have also been put up.
