The Chhattisgarh High Court has granted bail to four individuals, including Harmeet Khanuja, the alleged mastermind, who were implicated in the Bhartamala compensation scam. The accused had been in Raipur jail for three months following their arrest by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). The court granted the bail after considering arguments from both sides. This comes after the EOW (Economic Offenses Wing) arrested six more people in the compensation scam. The multi-crore scam involved fraudulent land acquisition for the Bhartamala project, a national highway development plan by the central government, a 463-kilometer road project from Raipur to Visakhapatnam. The investigation revealed the scam was orchestrated by a syndicate involving revenue department officials.
