The NIA conducted raids across parts of Bengal & Kerala on Saturday, following which it arrested nine terrorists said to be of Al-Qaeda.
Incriminating materials including digital devices, documents, jihadi literature, sharp weapons, country-made firearms, a locally fabricated body armour, articles and literature used for making home-made explosive devices have been seized from their possession in large quantities during these raids.
According to the NIA, these terrorists were planning for terror attacks on prominent places of the National Capital Region.
NIA spokesperson DIG Sonia Narang said that the anti-terror probe agency carried out the simultaneous raids at several locations in Kerala’s Ernakulam and West Bengal’s Murshidabad after learning about an inter-state module of Al Qaeda operatives at various locations in India and arrested six terrorists from West Bengal and three from Kerala.
These terrorists who worked as labours are in early 20s.
These terrorists are believed to have connections with the Pakistan. Looking towards the Standoff against China, it might be probable that the China would have supported Pakistan, for these terrorism acts.
