The Chhattisgarh police are investigating a case of cyber fraud where a senior professor from Raipur’s Government Engineering College was scammed. The professor was subjected to a digital arrest scheme and lost 88 lakh rupees to the perpetrators within 26 days. The criminals exploited the professor’s fear by threatening him with charges of human trafficking and money laundering. The professor initially failed to report the incident to the police due to fear, but later filed a complaint with the Purani Basti police station. The authorities have registered a case under the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act.
