Rahul Gandhi, a Congress MP and the Leader of the Opposition, addressed the ‘Vote Adhikaar Rally’ in Bengaluru’s Freedom Park, where he strongly criticized the Election Commission. The rally, also attended by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, his deputy DK Shivakumar, and other party members, was centered around allegations of electoral fraud and manipulation. Gandhi asserted that the party’s efforts are aimed at protecting the Indian Constitution, emphasizing the importance of every citizen’s right to vote. Gandhi referenced the Maharashtra Assembly elections, which followed the Lok Sabha polls, as an example of potential irregularities, highlighting the unusually high number of new voters. He also alleged that over 100,000 ‘fake votes’ were created in the Mahadevapura Assembly segment, which, according to him, was intended to help the BJP. Gandhi accused the Election Commission of working with the BJP to undermine the integrity of the electoral process. He presented evidence of the alleged manipulation at a press conference held at the Congress headquarters in Delhi. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah supported Gandhi’s claims, emphasizing that protecting the voting process is vital.
