The foundation was established to assist families dealing with the financial implications of long-term illnesses. The online auction, which ran for several weeks, featured jerseys from both Indian and English cricket players. Following the sale of Gill’s jersey, jerseys of other notable Indian players like Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, and KL Rahul also fetched high prices. The Ruth Strauss Foundation, founded in memory of Ruth Strauss by her husband, Andrew Strauss, is dedicated to providing support to families facing the challenges of serious illnesses.
