Tesla is accelerating its expansion in the Indian electric vehicle market with the planned launch of its second retail center. The new Tesla Experience Centre is set to open on August 11 at the WorldMark 3 campus in Aerocity, Delhi. This new location will serve customers in the National Capital Region (NCR), a key region driving the EV adoption in India.

The opening of the Delhi center follows the launch of Tesla’s inaugural showroom in Mumbai’s Maker Maxity Mall on July 15. The Mumbai launch was attended by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who welcomed Tesla and expressed his hope for the company to establish R&D and manufacturing facilities in the state. The Aerocity center is currently in the final stages of construction, and its monthly rent is estimated to be approximately Rs 25 lakh. Images of the upcoming outlet have surfaced on social media, showcasing the brand’s premium aesthetic. Tesla currently sells only one model in India, the Model Y, with a starting price of Rs 59.89 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Model Y offers two primary configurations: a Standard rear-wheel drive variant equipped with a 60 kWh battery and a 500 km WLTP-certified range, and a Long-range rear-wheel drive variant featuring a 75 kWh battery with a range of up to 622 km. Deliveries are being prioritized for customers in major cities like Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, and Gurugram, with vehicles delivered directly to homes using flat-bed trucks. Tesla has also enhanced its website to permit vehicle registration across all Indian states and union territories, broadening its market reach. The Full Self-Driving (FSD) feature is available as an optional add-on for Rs 6 lakh on the website, with a planned rollout in India at a later date. The Model Y’s launch also coincides with the launch of Tesla’s dedicated India website, demonstrating the company’s commitment to expanding its operations in India, notwithstanding the challenges related to EV policies and infrastructure.
