Chief Minister Nitish Kumar participated in a dialogue to discuss the positive changes in Bihar’s electricity sector. He recalled the initial challenges and the subsequent efforts to improve power supply and expand the energy budget since 2005. Kumar emphasized the completion of the ‘Har Ghar Bijli’ scheme, ensuring all households had electricity by October 2018. The focus on affordable electricity was highlighted by the implementation of the free electricity program. Starting in July, all domestic consumers receive 125 free units of electricity per month, impacting 1.89 crore households. The government is also promoting solar energy and has installed solar panels on government buildings. The event included a presentation on the Energy Department’s achievements and featured grateful testimonials from residents like Komal Kumari, Leela Kumari, Gudiya Khatoon, and Noorjahan Khatoon, all sharing how the free electricity has benefited their families and helped with household expenses.
