Ahead of the planned meeting between President Trump and President Putin, it has been revealed that over 121,000 Russian soldiers have died in the ongoing war in Ukraine. This information comes from a report compiled by Meduza, and the BBC Russian Service, which covers the period from February 24, 2022, to July 31, 2025. The report states that the data is compiled from open sources. The report shows that the true figure could be higher, as the official figures released by Moscow and Kyiv often do not represent the full scope of the deaths. Moreover, reports indicate that 33,100 volunteers, 18,000 convicts, and 13,300 forcibly recruited soldiers are among those who have lost their lives. The Ukrainian government estimates that Russia has suffered more than 1,000,000 casualties.
