Mahendra Prasad, the manager of the DRDO guest house situated at the Chandan Firing Range in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, has been arrested on charges of espionage for Pakistan’s ISI. Prasad was stationed at the guest house near the strategically important Chandan Field Firing Range. He is accused of having shared classified and strategic information with Pakistan. The arrest was carried out by the CID Intelligence of Rajasthan.

The guest house manager is believed to have been in constant communication with Pakistani intelligence operatives. He is alleged to have leaked sensitive information related to India’s defense activities.

Ahead of Independence Day, security agencies nationwide were operating at a heightened state of alert. Intelligence gathering was intensified, leading to this successful operation.

Investigations revealed that Prasad, who is originally from Palyun, Almora, Uttarakhand, connected with Pakistani intelligence through social media. He is believed to have provided his handlers with details regarding the activities of DRDO scientists and Indian Army officers who visit the Chandan Field Firing Range for the testing of missiles and weaponry. This facility in Jaisalmer is vital for testing strategic defense equipment.

After the arrest, Prasad was subjected to a joint interrogation by security agencies, and a thorough examination of his mobile phone was conducted. It was discovered that he had shared details of DRDO operations and Indian Army activities with his Pakistani handlers. Based on this evidence, the CID Intelligence arrested Mahendra Prasad on charges of espionage. Officials are now assessing the severity of the security breach and investigating the possibility of other individuals being involved in this information network.
