Since her introduction in November 2022, Kim Ju-ae has been featured prominently in North Korean state media. She is seen with her father at significant events, and her presence at military sites and meetings with officials suggests she’s receiving training to take on leadership responsibilities.
Over three years, Kim Ju-ae’s public persona has evolved considerably. Her formal clothing choices and elevated status within the ruling family, surpassing her mother and aunt, emphasize her growing importance.
Kim Jong-un’s strategy involves introducing Kim Ju-ae to military matters and solidifying her authority. Senior military personnel show deference to her, and she is present at nuclear and military sites. This early training is intended to prevent the potential for instability that followed the death of her grandfather.
