The village of Rangra in Bhagalpur district was struck with grief as the body of soldier Ankit Kumar arrived home. The nation was celebrating its independence day, but for this village, it was a day of mourning. The people were proud of the sacrifice of the brave soldier. Ankit Kumar, a son of Bhagalpur, returned home draped in the Indian flag on Independence Day.

Before the last rites, the in-charge minister, Santosh Singh, presented a check of Rs 21 lakh to the family on behalf of the Bihar government. He also assured them of continued support. The floods have impacted the village. The mortal remains were carried through the village. Ankit Yadav was martyred in the Uri sector while preventing an infiltration attempt.
