Stalin Decries Constitutional Amendment Bill as Undermining Democracy

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has denounced the 130th Constitutional Amendment Bill. The bill stipulates the removal of elected leaders, including Chief Ministers, after a 30-day arrest. Stalin stated that the measure is an attack on the Constitution and democratic foundations. He called upon all democratic elements to oppose this legislation. Stalin stated the bill represents an attempt to impose a dictatorship, potentially undermining rivals. The Union BJP Government, he asserted, seeks to defile the Constitution. Stalin alleges the bill is a tactic to divert attention from questions about the government’s legitimacy. He believes the bill will allow the BJP to bring false accusations against political adversaries, facilitating their removal without due legal process. Stalin is confident the courts will strike down the amendment. He noted that the bill is a move to intimidate regional parties and warned of a potential descent into authoritarianism.
