Intense rainfall over the weekend caused a check dam near Pahad Toli village in the Karra block to fail. The dam, which was built two years ago on the Balari River, broke on Sunday, resulting in significant damage to local farmland. The affected farmers reported extensive crop losses. The villagers pointed out that the construction of the dam was flawed. They alleged that the contractor responsible for the project did not properly build the guard wall, making the structure vulnerable to the force of the water. Concerns have been raised regarding the dam’s placement. The farmers of Pahad Toli village are urging the authorities to investigate the project and provide compensation for the damages sustained.
