The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, oversaw the start of localized production of hybrid battery electrodes and the export launch of the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara at the Suzuki Motor Plant in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. This electric vehicle is destined for more than 100 international markets. Unveiled in India in January 2025 at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo, the e-Vitara is a significant model for Suzuki. The company, operating four Indian plants with a combined annual production capacity of 2.6 million units, exported over 3.32 lakh vehicles and achieved domestic sales of 19.01 lakh units in FY25. The e-Vitara is set to compete with the Hyundai Creta Electric. The e-Vitara will offer a rear-wheel-drive configuration in certain trims, which is not available in the Hyundai Creta. The e-Vitara will feature a 75 kWh battery pack, with all-wheel-drive offered in the Empowered trim. It will also come with a 12.3-inch freestanding screen and ADAS Level 2 safety features. The e-Vitara distinguishes itself with ventilated seats, flexible boot space, and other modern amenities. The vehicle utilizes Suzuki’s new HEARTECT-e platform, specifically designed for EVs, and it is powered by a 61 kWh Lithium-ion battery. This battery has undergone testing across a temperature range of -30 °C to 60 °C, and offers an estimated range of approximately 500 km. The following table details the expected prices.
