The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is spearheading a project to update the biometrics of 170 million children across the country who have Aadhaar cards. The UIDAI has communicated this requirement to state authorities through formal letters, seeking their assistance in the update process. Schools will host special camps to facilitate easy biometric updates. The Ministry of Education has made necessary information available via the UDISE Plus platform to enable district officials and school administrators to monitor progress within their respective institutions. UIDAI CEO Bhuvanesh Kumar has also engaged with all Chief Secretaries of states and union territories seeking their support. The initial Aadhaar enrollment for children relies on their parents’ details; therefore, biometric updates are mandatory at the ages of five and fifteen. The UIDAI emphasizes the timely completion of these updates.
